Keene got away from the side sluice design because the whole assembly has to be on top of their floats. More lift, less power. The undercurrent design let the whole thing sit in between the floats at water level, giving more suction for less power. The 6.5hp P180 will power a 5" subsurface dredge but is to weak for an above water sluice.

Hi everyone. I just purchased a 4" keene dredge with a stage 3 sluice. I really like it but there's one thing I can't figure out. When I'm running material, the bottom most stage (stage 3?) is getting clogged up. I'm not sure, but I think I might have had the riffles turned upside down and I don't know if this would make a difference.

The three stage Keene is a legit proven concept of basically higher recovery through better classification. You can see that in the design. The proline looks just like a single stage sluice to me but is somehow supposed to create a jig action and capture the fine? I don't get how they would do that in a sluice design.
